I understand that the quality with stacking will deteriorate, but the 70-200mm f/2.8 II would still keep autofocus on the 1D IV with the first three combinations with 728mm FOV, and the last extreme combination would result in a crazy 1456mm on the 1D IV or 1792mm FOV on the 7D with MF.

R5 with EF 100-400 is ii and 2x extender. Did a quick test with this setup today and was happy with the results. EF 100-400 is ii and 2x multiplier, tested just at 800mm. A few things I noticed. If it’s on a tripod and IS is on it will blur the picture.
